Exorcistic: The Rock Musical
LA Drama Critics Circle winner Music & Lyrics and BroadwayWorld NYC Winner Best New Musical Off Off Broadway RETURNS OFF BROADWAY at Asylum NYC for a Limited Engagement packed full of shocking Broadway Guest Stars and of course PEA SOUP!!!
TicketsExorcistic: The Rock Musical is a bold, high-octane horror-comedy. Winner of LA Drama Critics Circle Best Music and Lyrics 2023 and Best new musical Off-Off Broadway BroadwayWorld Awards 2024 and Written by Michael Shaw Fisher (book, music & lyrics) and starring Emma Hunton (from Freeform’s Good Trouble) this campy, self-aware parody launches when a struggling theater troupe known for it’s musical parodies tries to cash in on the 52nd Anniversary (who doesn’t love an Anniversary) of the legendary horror film The Exorcist—by staging a chaotic, over-the-top rock musical.
We join the company for the first staged reading of the original musical. Since there’s an instant conflict of personalities and creative priorities within the company, they decide to do an “experimental version” of the parody, but throughout the reading, cast mates become offended and technical issues ensue quickly spiraling them into theatrical madness as the cast realizes they are no longer just parodying evil, but summoning it.
Dismissing the glaring obviousness that their show is cursed or that they are being opportunistic for riding the press surrounding the show’s mishaps. They replaced an actress with a big Broadway star, but all bets are off when the possessed actress shows back up, having broken out of the mental hospital, and demands that they give her a real “rock ‘n’ roll exorcism“ making the exorcism from the movie serve as a real exorcism for the actress. The exorcism works, freeing her of her possession, bringing home their Broadway premiere successfully… but at what cost? The dangerous thing about live theatre is that if Evil does exist, then no one is safe.
With 19 original rock numbers, cabaret chaos, fourth-wall breaks, audience interaction, satanic showbiz spectacle, and a rotating cast of Guest Divas

“The production is a hybrid of theater, cabaret, sketch comedy, and slapstick that felt like Frank Oz’s cinematic adaptation of ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ on acid. The jokes fly fast and furious, there is something for everyone, leaving the audience little time to recover in between. It is no wonder that there is an intermission, permitting the performers and audience time to catch their breath”. –FEARS MAGAZINE
“Always delivered with delicious gusto…As with the classic rock-style score and entertaining lyrics, there isn’t a false note among the cast.”-LA WEEKLY
“By the time the bodies are buried, and the guttural expletives and rock & roll exorcism ends, you’ll have had quite an otherworldly experience. It’s got cult following written all over it.” -BROADWAY WORLD
“It’s one of my favorite productions now, and I highly recommend it to anyone who can get behind seeing some fun poked at sacred cinematic cows.” -INSIDE HORROR
